Awards are based on how a student places among everyone who took the same grade test. Every student who finishes gets a certificate.

For strong, consistent problem solving.
Merit Ribbon
For solid work, at or above the middle of the field.

Every student who submits a test receives a certificate.
How placement works
A student’s percentile is the share of submitted scores in the same grade test that are lower than theirs. A student with a percentile of 95 or higher is in the top 5%, 85 or higher is in the top 15%, and 50 or higher is in the top 50%.
Students receive the highest award they qualify for. Tied scores receive the same percentile and the same award. Awards are calculated from Horizon participants, and thresholds may be reviewed as participation grows.
Physical medals and ribbons depend on the final contest budget. Certificates are always provided in a printable format.
